Creativity and innovation take center stage in our design for this confidential corporate office in Washington, D.C. We took inspiration from the building’s unique interior – home to a groundbreaking and progressive organization – which features a series of box-like, glass-enclosed rooms. The GGLD team worked with the architecture, integrating lighting that enhances wayfinding and introduces curved, modern shapes, including a variety of playful decorative fixtures. To keep the ceilings as clear as possible, we used primarily 1” apertures for general downlighting. Our design also incorporates luminous perimeter lighting to add generous visual depth and and verticality, particularly where spatial depth is limited.

Throughout the office, we incorporated teaching moments whenever possible, from thoughtfully highlighted white boards to a bespoke conference room fixture based on a mathematical algorithm. The clean aesthetic of the workplace, paired with its pops of artistic color, inspired our team to create a one-of-a-kind lighting design that honors the organization’s future-minded and compassionate work ethic.
